Skin Lupus Hindering Your Daily Routine?
Cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) is a form of lupus that primarily affects the skin, causing rashes, lesions, and other skin abnormalities. It can be classified into several types, including chronic or subacute cutaneous lupus. CLE is a part of the broader lupus erythematosus spectrum, which affects approximately 1.5 million Americans, with skin manifestations being a common feature in many lupus patients.
The main goal of this study is to see if the study drug works better than a placebo to reduce skin lupus symptoms in people with chronic and/or subacute lupus erythematosus (CLE) who don't respond well to antimalarial treatment. The study also aims to check other benefits of the study drug, its safety, how well people tolerate it, its effect on quality of life, and how the body processes and reacts to the drug.
